This Sunday’s early game sees two sides that are having pretty impressive overall campaigns meet. We’ve learned to get used to the idea of Eibar punching well above their weight so to some extent it’s no surprise to see them comfortably placed in mid-table again. However nobody really anticipated Levante would be riding high in the top six heading into match-day 15 although in truth they’ve only really built on the excellent work they did at the back end of last term.
Paco Lopez has done a brilliant job with the Valencia club. Defensively they have looked poor at times this term but back-to-back home wins to nil this week will have done them the world of good. Away from home, they’ve actually been a bit more solid, sitting deep quite often and using the pace of the likes of Jose Luis Morales on the break. It’ll be interesting to see how both these sides approach this one.
Eibar gave Real Madrid the runaround in their last home game in La Liga, claiming a deserved 3-0 win. Since then though they’ve lost at Rayo and been knocked out of the Copa del Rey by second tier opponents so greater consistency is something that Mendilibar will be striving for. To be fair, Eibar were unfortunate to lose at Vallecas last weekend but they will fancy they can get back on track here.
With home advantage the onus will be on them to dictate the tempo of this game but their willingness to go direct at times will asks questions of Levante who may need to defend a higher line than they usually do to counter that. The visitors could even move into the top four this weekend with a win but they’d probably settle for a point.

Score Prediction: 2-0 Eibar
This could be a really interesting game from a tactical perspective but Eibar may just edge it. Levante almost seem more comfortably playing against possession based teams but less happy with crosses into the box and the slightly more direct approach of a side like Eibar. The Basques do have the ability to mix it up though and they should build on some excellent recent results at Ipurua here.
