This Friday’s game between Levante and Real Sociedad in La Liga sees two of the division’s away specialists meet. Both sides have won more points on the road than they have done away this season and to a large extent, home advantage isn’t likely to count for a great deal here.

Levante are a counter-attacking side that do seem a bit a clearer in their approach when they play away. Victories in tough trips to Betis and Real Madrid have largely come thanks to them sitting deep and breaking at speed with players like Jose Luis Morales, who possesses a great deal of pace and trickery. At home though they seem a bit shorter on ideas against sides that are less willing to push far up the pitch leaving gaps in behind.

Sociedad’s greater success away than at home is a bit tougher to explain. They’ve only taken 3 points and scored just 3 goals in 5 home matches this season but have had plenty of success on the road. It hasn’t been a particularly convincing start for Asier Garitano but encouragingly there have been signs that he is getting around to fixing this Sociedad defence, which has kept 2 clean sheets in their last 3 league outings.

This should be a decent game between two sides that will genuinely believe they can claim maximum points here. Levante have been incredibly good since Paco Lopez took charge however at some a point a decline or at least dip in form is likely as they are a bit short on the quality needed to maintain a top six challenge. Sociedad on paper are the better side but they haven’t been showing that regularly enough yet this season.
