DATE/TIME – Saturday 3rd November 2018, 16:15 (Spanish Time)
STADIUM – Bernabeu
COMPETITION – La Liga

Real Madrid take on Real Valladolid at the Bernabeu this Saturday in the first league game of Santiago Solari’s interim reign. He made a bright start with an easy Copa del Rey win in midweek and Los Blancos need to get back to winning ways in La Liga here otherwise whoever the new permanent boss is could inherit a side that is already virtually out of the title race.
It won’t be easy though against an in-form Real Valladolid side. The new boys have won 5 of their last 6 in all competitions to soar up the table and they are actually above Los Blancos heading into this. Any sort of result here would still be a bonus but they have no reason not to believe given the way they’ve gone and won games to nil at Villarreal and Real Betis in recent weeks.
An interesting side-note here is the return of Ronaldo (the Brazilian one) to the Bernabeu. He is now the majority owner of Real Valladolid and so far he will be very pleased with his investment. With Karim Benzema and Gareth Bale both firing blanks, Real Madrid might wish he was still on the pitch in the famous white shirts but there were finally positives for Real fans this week with another Brazilian striker, 18 year old Vinícius Júnior impressing in the Copa del Rey.
It’ll be fascinating to see whether he features again here. His exclusion from the first team set-up was one of many reasons why Julen Lopetegui fell out of favour and by throwing the teenager into the side again, the Bernabeu would have at least one reason to be excited about this game. That could change the whole atmosphere but either way there is still a transitional feel to Real Madrid right now and that won’t change regardless of the result here.
Real Madrid vs Valladolid Predictions
Score Prediction: 2-1 Real Madrid
Valladolid should not be underestimated. They are a very organised team with the division’s second best defensive record so Los Blancos will have to work for their openings here. Had there not been a change in coach, they’d have fancied they might have got something the way Real have been playing. However a change at the top may bring a change in fortunes and Real Madrid should have the edge here but it could be tighter than many are expecting.
