This is hardly the game of the weekend and Getafe matches rarely make for thrilling viewing but they are absolutely very effective at what they do. Levante do tend to be involved in higher scoring games but they are largely a counter-attacking side on the road so it’ll be interesting to see what kind of game develops here with the onus really on the home team to come out firing.

José Bordalás’ Getafe side have certainly ruffled a few feathers since they won promotion to La Liga in 2017. They at times bend the rules but defensively they are a very good unit and we’ve seen further evidence of that this season. Only 3 teams can better their defensive record of 6 goals conceded in 7 games. They’ve already played 3 of the current top four too so they’ve had a tricky schedule but they’ve been continuing to grind out results, the latest of which was a 1-1 draw in Vigo on Monday night.

Levante could do with some of those defensive qualities. They conceded 6 in one game at home to Sevilla a couple of weeks back. A response was needed to a 3 game losing streak and they got it last weekend in the shape of a 2-1 win over Alaves. It was a much needed result for Paco Lopez who was going through the first bad patch of his time at the helm and they’ll be aiming to build upon it here.

Score Prediction: 2-0 Getafe

Getafe look capable of bagging the points here. Their 8th place finish last term was no fluke and they’ve already set about at least emulating it this time around. Defensively Levante still have a mistake or two in them and you simply can’t afford to gift chances to a side as disciplined as Getafe as it’s hard to see the visitors creating much here.

Jaime Mata, a Segunda Division goal machine last term broke his Getafe duck in Galicia on Monday. He has a real fight on for a starting role but he will be hoping that having opened his account, he can go on to prove himself at this level.
